A badminton center of about 5300 sft with 3 playing courts, a reception, small office and toilets. Constructed as a composite building with a PEB structure as well as load bearing masonry. The external facade kept in mind the limited surface available and selective visual connections to the action of players inside.
This was a design build project including architecture and interior design with even the branding and graphics taken up on the client's request.
CNC cut backlit silhouettes adorn the wall outside highlighting the badminton aspect.
With the site located on a main road, flanked by trees to the frontage, green is very vital to the palette. The exterior gets a high contrast treatment in conjunction with this. With very little room for experimentation, the interior design direction was pragmatic with little touches of flair and decoration.
A shelving that doubles as both display and storage along with a bench seat and notice board is the biggest feature in the lobby space. Signages function as spatial graphics and notice boards work to the same effect.
We used high contrast colours to enable clear sighting of the shuttlecock during play.
The lighting of the space was done with anti glare LED floodlights suspended high to make the arena feel as large as possible.
The facade changes at night with passersby getting a glimpse of the players inside, with the CNC cut sihouettes and signage lending a bit of glamour to it.
